Smeal Fire Apparatus

In 1963, Snyder Rural Fire Board asked Don Smeal to fix a leak in its fire truck tank.  The tank could not be repaired so Don, being a volunteer firefighter himself and knowing the needs of the community, offered another arrangement.  If the Board would buy a new chassis, Don would design and build a new fire truck that would have a portable and a PTO water pump, a 1200 gallon water tank, a body with an enclosed crew cab and a 42′ hydraulic aerial ladder.  Soon other communities were requesting that Don bid their firetrucks and thus began Smeal Fire Apparatus Co.  Today, Smeal Fire Apparatus Co. has dealers throughout the United States and Canada and is recognized as a premier manufacturer, inventor and innovator of customized fire apparatus. They offer a full line of custom and commercial pumpers, rescue pumpers, aerial ladders, platforms, TDAs and urban interface vehicles.  Give us a call and we can visit with you about which Smeal product will best fit your department’s needs or see the entire line of their products at smeal.com .

WE BUILD RESPECT.

In early June, 2014, a new era began when Smeal Fire Apparatus Co., acquired the assets of LTI, including LTI ladders, platforms and tractor-drawn aerials, Squrt and TeleSqurt boom-ladders and Snorkel articulating aerial platforms.  The acquisition added an extensive line of aerial apparatus to the company’s already expansive line of industry-leading steel aerial ladders, platforms, and tillers. With the addition of LTI , Smeal now offers the largest selection of aerial models available to the fire service.  LTI products are now manufactured through Ladder Tower Co. (LTC), and sold via Smeal’s dealer network.  You can view the full line of LTC products by visiting  laddertower.com.

On July 1, 2014 Smeal purchased U.S. Tanker Fire Apparatus (UST).  The deal expanded Smeal’s product offering to include stainless-steel custom and commercial pumpers and other apparatus.  US Tanker’s products include Patriot stainless steel elliptical tankers, Heritage wetside and dryside tankers, Guardia stainless steel pumpers – with custom and commercial chassis – light rescues, mini-pumpers and brush trucks.  A full lineup of
UST apparatus offerings and recent deliveries can be found at ustanker.com
